As much as anime tastes and preferences differ from person to person, the fact that some of these anime gain popularity among fans is something that cannot be ignored. Demon slayer

Demon Slayer shows the journey of Tanjiro who lost all of his family to the brutal assault of a demon named Kibutsuji Muzan. His mother and 4 of his siblings died in the attack and his surviving sister turned into a demon.

He then sets out to find a way to make his sister human again and joins the demon slayers association so he can hunt down the demon who harmed his family. One season of Demon Slayer and a sequel movie had already been released in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Fans had been waiting since then for the release of the second season. This anime gained popularity over time after getting a taste of what life as a demon slayer was like for Tanjiro. According to reviews from fan expectations, this anime is considered one of the best new anime to watch in 2022.

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is one of the great anime this year which premiered in 2017. Since then, 3 seasons have been released completely so far. The second part of the 4th and final season was released in January 2022. Fans are still waiting for the finale of the anime series.

The series depicts a world whose peace was disturbed by human-eating giants known as Titans. Eren Yeager and his friends’ purpose in their hearts is to do everything within their power to rid of these Titans. The journey is not all smooth but they are strong enough for the task.

Chainsaw man

Chainsaw Man only had a manga series and many people had been hoping for an anime adaptation. Fortunately, the manga is getting an anime adaptation this year 2022. Judging from the online reactions to the manga, it can be counted as one of the top new anime this year.

It tells the story of a young man named Denji who works for a dangerous group, the Yakuza trying to pay off his father’s debt. This group betrays and kills him but he is brought back to life by Pochita who is a chainsaw devil.

They form a human-devil hybrid and Denji swears to take vengeance on the Yakuza. Chainsaw Man is one of the popular new anime to watch this year.

Spy X Family

Two rival nations, Westalis and Ostania are tentatively at peace. In a quest to maintain that peace, a Westalian agent with the code name Twilight is given the task of spying on Donovan Desmond who is the leader of the National Unity Party within Ostania.

This task was however difficult since Donovan likes being alone, so Twilight gets a wife and they adopt a child so he can enroll the child in the same school as Donovan’s son.

He has no idea that his wife is an assassin and that his child can read minds. This twist of events makes the anime interesting and also one of the most popular new anime to watch this year.

Dr Stone: Ryusui

The exploit of Dr. Stone began in 2019. The anime was based on the original manga series which was released on Shonen Jump. Dr. Stone showed a world that met with an apocalypse and got frozen in stone for over 3700 years.

A young man named Senku Ishigami woke up and found himself in a world where time had erased almost all traces of civilization. His friend Taiju Oki wakes up a few months after him and together, they try to manufacture a compound that can revive the others. They revive two others with the goal of rebuilding civilization with a focus on science.

A special series of Dr. Stone titled Dr. Stone: Ryusui, which revolves around Ryusui has been released. Ryusui is one of the first people revived by Senku. He was an accomplished sailor and shipbuilder before the apocalypse.

Ryusui was also arrogant and greedy but not for himself, he had a kind heart that wanted to see everyone around him happy. He had great ambition and drive with great strength. The adventure of Ryusui as a professional investigator is actually an interesting one. Overall, Dr. Stone is a good anime.

My Dress Up Darling

This good new anime tells the story of a young popular lady named Marin Kitagawa who has an interest in cosplay and her classmate Wakana Gojo who wants to be a hina doll craftsman.

One day, Kitagawa sees him sewing doll costumes in the school’s sewing room. After observing his sewing skills, she asks him to sew a costume from a video game which she loves.

Gojo is not sure whether he can sew a human’s dress but her resilience causes him to agree to her request.

Tokyo 24th Ward

Tokyo 24th Ward is a great new anime that centers around 3 friends named Ran, Koki and Shuta who usually hang out together. One day, their school caught fire and Asumi, Koki’s sister, was trapped inside.

They spent time arguing about how to save her and instead of working together, Shuta hurried inside but still couldn’t save her. This event greatly altered the course of their lives.

A while after the incident, Asumi begins to give them visual messages on life and death situations and they have to decipher the best course of action.

Tribe Nine

This popular anime depicts an imaginary future of suffering and injustice. Where youths from their respective tribes become violent and run rampant through the city of Neo-Tokyo.

To try and regulate the violence, the government implements the XB law stating that all conflicts between tribes will be settled through extreme baseball games which will be monitored by robotic umpires. This is quite an interesting way to end conflict.

What is the Best New Anime to Watch this Year so far?

A lot of great anime are set to stream this year while others are already streaming. Among the popular new anime to watch, I think the best so far is Demon Slayer because the fights and struggles Tanjiro and the other demon slayers he closely works with bring out and portray their raw strength.

The adventures of Tanjiro are just something you can’t easily get over.
