Lucky Star mainly portrays the lives of four girls attending a Japanese high school. The series began with the four main characters, Konata Izumi, Kagami Hiiragi, Tsukasa Hiiragi, and Miyuki Takara, in their high school first year.
As the series goes further, the girls move on to their second and third years. As they move on, they develop their eccentric and lively friendship and make humorous observations about the world around them. The show takes place in suburban Saitama Prefecture, just outside of Tokyo.

Washinomiya Shrine
Let’s introduce the real-life locations of Lucky Star with the Washinomiya shrine, one of the oldest shrines in the Kantō region, located in Saitama. Various folk culture and performing art events are held here.
The shrine also houses several ancient relics, a good reason to rush to it. During the New Year season, the shrine receives no fewer than 100,000 visitors. We definitely recommend visiting one of the most iconic real-life locations of Lucky Star.

There is also this spot at the shrine where you can see o-mikuji fortunes. They are random fortunes written on strips of paper and they are received by making a small offering and randomly choosing one from a box, hoping for the resulting fortune to be good.

How to get there
The shrine is located about 10 minutes away from Washinomiya Station on the Toubu Isesaki Line. Take the train directly from the Tokyo Metro subway station in Asakusa. The town is in the Saitama Prefecture.

Kasukabe Kyoei High School
The next of the real-life locations of Lucky Star is the Ryōō High School in the anime but it corresponds to the Kasukabe Kyoei High School in real life. It is the high school where almost all of the Lucky Star cast attend classes or work. It hosts many of the events and ‘skits’ played out in the series; including sports and culture festivals occasionally.

Satte
Located in the flatlands of far eastern Saitama Prefecture, Satte is at the convergence of Saitama, Chiba and Ibaraki Prefectures, at an average altitude of approximately twenty metres (66 ft) above sea level. The total area of the city is 33.93 square kilometres and is among the settings used for real-life locations of Lucky Star.

Ōmiya is one of ten wards of the city of Saitama, Japan, and is located in the northeastern part of the city. Whenever Konata and the gang from Lucky Star want to check out a show or go shopping at Gamers or Animate they go to Ōmiya. While passing through Saitama, you can also visit the Anohana real-life locations in Chichibu City, and One Punch Man

Kasukabe station
Kasukabe Station is a junction passenger railway station located in the city of Kasukabe, Japan. It is one of the real-life locations of Lucky Star that should be familiar to anybody who’s seen the anime.

Kenrokuen Garden (Kenroku-en)
The last of the real-life locations of Lucky Star is located in Kanazawa, Japan, and is an old private garden. Along with Kairaku-en and Kōraku-en, Kenroku-en is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. In a flashback, we can see Konata’s parents walking across a bridge in the Kenroku-en. Going to the garden will allow you to spend a pleasant moment alone or with a loved one and why not create lasting memories?

How to get there
Kenrokuen is easily accessed by bus from Kanazawa Station. The ride takes 20 minutes and costs 200 yen. Alternatively, JR Rail Pass holders can take the JR buses bound for Korinbo using their passes.
