Anime & Manga Theme Parks in Japan You Need to Visit

Have you ever been to anime or manga theme parks? If you are still wondering about the answer, guess you arrived at the right post.

Actually, there are several anime and manga theme parks in Japan you need to visit. Today I will show some anime-themed parks as well as Amusement parks. So get set and let’s start.

1. Naruto Theme Park in Japan SHINOBIZATO

Awaji Island Anime Park(near Kobe in Nijigen no Mori) or Naruto x Boruto Shinobi is one of the Anime & Manga Theme Parks that has the Hokage rock and a real-life Ramen Ichiraku.

As you enter the park, you will receive two scrolls, Ten-no-makimono and Chi-no-makimono to look out for while you walk around the park. Using these scrolls, you will solve quizzes like missions and maze missions.

This Anime & Manga Theme Park also has 2 missions which are basically the main attraction of the park(those mentioned above)

• For a chi-no-maki mission, you need to solve quizzes along the way.
• For Ten-no-maki (just behind the Hokage Rock) offers two courses

1. An Uzumaki Course: which deals more with physical strength
2. An Uchiha course: which is more intellectual

2. Ghibli Museum

If you haven’t watched any film produced by Ghibli, guess you should run out for one. Some of my best movies are:

• Grave of the Fireflies
• Whisper of the heart
• My Neighbour Totoro
• Spirited away
• Castle in the Sky.

Besides these films, There is a Museum in Japan dedicated to Ghibli. Ghibli is the animation and art museum of Miyazaki Hayao’s Studio. Located in Mitaka, just outside of central Tokyo, not far from Kichijoji, the museum is a must-see for fans of the films.

I consider this as one of the Anime & Manga Theme Parks because the museum itself is designed in the distinct style of the studio’s films, and many of their famous characters are there, including the giant robot soldier from “Castle in the Sky”. Let me stop here, it’s better you experience the museum in real life. It’s really worth it.

3. Anime & Manga Theme Parks: Fuji Q Highland

Fuji Q Highland just 2hours from Tokyo is a fantastic amusement park that is no stranger to anime collaborations. This is one of Japanese favorite anime and manga amusement parks. If you are a fan of rollercoasters then this is definitely the place you need to visit. There are absolutely many of them. Some of which are:

• Do-Dodonpa- Fastest Roller Coaster
• Takabisha – Steepest Roller Coaster

4. Mazaria

Are fond of VR Anime & Manga Theme parks? if not you should be fond of them. Mazaria is one of the indoor VR(Virtual Reality) Anime and Manga theme parks in Japan. It is located at Sunshine City Mall in Tokyo and features anime VR games like Evangelion, Gundam and series like Taiko Drum Master and Dragon Quest. Have you always dreamed of having contact with the Gundam RX-78 or getting stomped by angels in Evangelion? Then you are definitely at the right place.

5. Sanrio Puroland (Hello Kitty Land)

This is not really the anime type of anime and manga theme parks for some of us but if you’re looking for a place to bring your kids, this is a good option. Sanrio Puroland is the number one hangout spot for all the Sanrio characters from Hello Kitty. It features pretty character shops, live shows, parades, and LOTS of pink.

Which are the next upcoming anime and manga theme parks in Japan?

I’m happy and excited to tell you that the world of Ghibli is getting its own anime theme park. The park will have five theme lands based on My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and the rest is yet to be confirmed. Equally the opening date is not yet confirmed. So stay tuned and be the first to visit this anime and manga amusement park.

What about the J-World, One Piece Tokyo Tower, and USJ Cool Japan?

As for J-World, it was shut down on February 2019

Unfortunately, the Tokyo One Piece tower closed down on July 31, 2020, due to the coronavirus.

Universal Studios Japan: Cool Japan used to have attractions like the statues of Shingeki No Kyojin or attractions of Sailor Moon, Evangelion but the area is not available at the moment.
